There will always be a question whether to name it argentatus or hypergentatus.

Re: Viking Gull - Larus hypergentatus
I've just added a few images of the Viking Gull from IJmuiden, when it returned in its 2nd winter. Pictures are from Febr 2008, so bird in 3cy:

I also came across a few pictures which I feel could be used in this category. Its a 2cy (Febr 2008 as well) bird which I put in the books as the 'palest end of the spectrum' in argentatus. But of course its plumage may also be explained by 'at least some' influences from hyperboreus. Bird was photographed in IJmuide (Netherlands) as well...

The bot-belly, short legs and 'facial expression' remind me of Glaucous. Also the primaries were paler brown. Or is it just the bill? Amsterdam, 25-10-09.

One more Herring from the paler end, Heemskerk 31-10-09. Don't see any Glaucous influence here.

Hi agree that Ruuds gull does look to have a past history with a Glaucous!
Here are a mixture of "presumed" hybrids all from Ireland.

Re: Viking Gull - Larus hypergentatus
Nelson B1 and B2 may very well have a GBBG as a parent.

Re: Viking Gull - Larus hypergentatus
Thanks Theo for answer. This bird indeed doesn't looks like other "typical" hyperargentatus, but I have seen only few pictures of hybrid with GBBG.
Can you explain your presumption, is there any diagnostic details (bil, plumage pattern)?
Do you know any sites with pictures of hybrids?
One more pictures of this ineresting gull.
