Hi all:
This gull was sighted yesterday 30.1.2013 in NW Spain.
I think this is a kum, but I have no experience....
Any opinion about it ?
Thanks in advance
Antonio

Re: Kumlien??
Hi Antonio,
From this picture it seems the outer-webs of the outer primaries remain relatively pale, without a suggestion to get dark towards the primary coverts. Of course, an open-wing would help here, have a look at:

Re: Kumlien??
My thoughts on this bird (based on the photos on Antonio's blog):
1) The bird is bulky with a "Herring Gull-like" head shape and a long dark bill.
2) It's got quite plain tertials as well as a semi-plain tailband.
3) at least p7-p9 show the darker outer webs with a J-shape at the tip.
All this should point towards kumlieni why I would say; shouldn't this be enough to call it a kumlieni?
Best regards,
Oskar
