Re: hybrid Herring X GBBG?
Thank for this very nice example. Unfortunately, the bird that I documented was only seen at distance and the details in the photos thus of less quality. Nevertheless there is some similarity in the primary pattern as seen below. Maybe we will have a higher degree of confidence with possible hybrids...

Re: hybrid Herring X GBBG?
Yes, very difficult. I am definitely not sure that the parental combination includes GBBG. At first I thought that it included LBBG, and that could still be the case rather than GBBG, but the possible LBBG X EUHG that I have seen, have all had a more delicate structure than this one. I suggested GBB...

hybrid Herring X GBBG?
During Christmas holiday I went through my hard drive and found a (probable) Herring x GBBG hybrid that I photographed some years back: #1 (Vejle Harbour): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2015/01/presumed-hybrid-great-black-backed-gull.html In the beginning of the video one gets a brief view of the open w...

During Christmas holiday I went through my hard drive and found photos and video of no less than six (probable) adult Herring x LBBG hybrids from Denmark: #1 (Mandø): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2015/01/presumed-hybrid-lesser-black-backed.html #2 (Grenaa Harbour): http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2014/12/pre...

Gull ID in Denmark
A few days ago a friend of mine took these photos and read the colour ring: red ring with white inscription CJH 61. I think I see a LBBG, but then again. If not looking at the moult, there is also some YLG about it. What do you see? We have not yet received any info on the ring. Who uses these red r...

Denmark: 2cy YLG with very distinct tail-band
Dear everyone,
In the past weekend I found this YLG with a very distinct and rather narrow tail band.

The white tail with a black band god me thinking of a Common Gull tail. Seen anything like it?
All the best

Small Glaucous Gull in Demark
Dear all members, At present we have a gull in Denmark that has caused some discussion. People believe that it could be an Iceland Gull, a hybrid Viking Gull, but we are also several persons who argue that it is "just" a small female-type Glaucous Gull. http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2014/01/glaucous-gul...

LBBG or HG in Denmark
Dear members, I need some help. Any thoughts on this gull: http://www.flickr.com/photos/109275407@N08/sets/72157637871625225/ Is it possible to rule out 2nd winter Herring Gull from the existing photos? These are unfortunately the only photos I have. Date: March 10, 2010 Location: Aarhus Harbour, De...

with uniform greyish hind-neck
This gull was photographed on the beach east of Hirtshals Harbour in Denmark on February 9, 2013 http://gulldk.blogspot.dk/2013/03/herring-gull-larus-argentatus-with.html I found the uniform greyish-brown hind-neck and smooth underparts rather interesting as I had not seen this combination before Ch...
