Re: Het H word - hybrids from Poland
Christmas puzzle gull. P5 solid, narrow band, dark eye and greenish bare bill parts are good for caspian. Rounded head profile with extensive streaks, amount of black on inner and outer web of P10-p9 with barley visible grey tounges fits more for herring. For me its presumed arg x cach hybrid. Any c...

Are we looking at YLG?
Watching some old photos from breeding season i have found some photos of gull which previously i distinguished as YLG.
Right now i'm a bit cofunsed is it really it? Especially these elongated body and large mirror p10 makes some doubts. What about the age class - 4cy?
All the best,
Michal

Re: 3rd gen scaps
Undigging old thread, today i found 1cy caspian with 1 rear scapular, which seems to be 3rd gen. Photo is not so good, but in live view it was distinctive adult like colour, just these single one in whole scaps.
What do you think guys, is it really 3rd gen?

Re: 1cy gull - what species?
I can agree with Jan. Bird very similar to these juv. ringed in mixed colony (arg. x cach), which in my opinion really can be a hybrid of Lar arg & Lar cach.

Re: Juvenile ringed Caspian from east
New season, new ring codes for pure Caspian juv. In 2011 PSxx series. Unfortunatelly these year I found only one on Polish Baltic coast.
Few pictures from these meeting below.

Re: Adult birds from Poland - breeding colony
Quite interesting. For me it is unclear, if real hybrids mich x cach do exist. All probably cases I have seen yet in East Germany (breeders in Lausitz area) were arg (often omissus-Phenotype) x cach. Hi Ronald! Today we catch at nest adult female YGL! More photos of above mentioned and new part of ...

Re: Adult birds from Poland - breeding colony
hi lou! yes we have mich x cach breeding (probably 2 pairs) one nest is already located. Of course we will try to catch them too :) PCPV - is not the only one with short bill, but first in our hands, more of them are present in colony. I would like to report more of them as fast as possible, if we m...
