Is this a pure cachinnans?
Hello gullers, would like to ask your opinions about these 2 gulls. Photographed yesterday at Malaga harbour, Spain, by Salva Garcia. Re: Black Sea coast gull parade
Hi Jan, Actually, that was my first and obvious thought. But, after checking out the whole photos, my conclusion is that the most birds show atypical features for average michahellis. Assuming the extreme variation within michahellis taxon, I would never state that birds are michahellis in a western...

Black Sea coast gull parade
Hi gullers, please take a look at this set of photos. I'm bogged down with these bunch of gulls, found at Varna city beach, Bulgarian Black Sea coast, last January 2011. It's important to note that I was at the same place the year before, and the gulls present were totally diferent (pure Caspian loo...

Odd Larus marinus in a very odd place
Hi all dudes, I'm sending a couple of photos by Huberto García, from the Island of Alboran, a Spanish small insland located between S Spain and Africa. The bird looks good for GBBG except for its legs, pale yellow. Primary pattern fits marinus, but... I need some help to take out of my head the hybr...

Re: Thayer's Gull strikes back!
Hi all, finally, this record gets the attention deserved one year ago, when some people didn't fully agree with the Thayer's option, probably only for that pale iris (a feature that does not exclude thayeri at all, IMO). I agree with Peter, the bird is now on its 4th cycle and its for sure the best ...

Thayer's Gull strikes back!
Hi dudes, I'm glad to announce that the Thayer's Gull is back to the same place (North Galician coast, Spain), exactly one year after. The age of this gull is now under discussion, so any opinion would be very much appreciated. Photos: David Calleja. Best wishes! Gabi DSC_4779.jpg DSC_4958.jpg DSC_4...
