Re: Presumed Baltic Gull 2cy at Albert Village Lake, Leics, England.
Thank you Mars for your thorough response. The iris was indeed pale and I can see now that this is probably more likely to be a 3cy intermedius, as you suggest. The 'pied' appearance was worrying me at first but there are pics of similar birds on the web, albeit maybe not 'typical' for fuscus in Jul...

Glaucous Gull - Adult or 4th winter(5cy)?
This adult-type Glaucous Gull was present at Albert Village Lake, Leicestershire, England on 21st January 2016. There are no visible immature feathers but the bill is pink-tinged with a dark subterminal mark. Is this an 'adult' with sub-adult-type bill or a 4th winter with adult-type plumage? (See a...

Re: probable adult Baltic Gull (larus fuscus fuscus)
Many thanks Mars - concise and informative as always. What are the Forum's / GRO's views on whether an unringed adult 'Baltic Gull' (L.f.fuscus) showing all the 'fuscus' features (but also including P10 projecting beyond P9 on the closed wing and no primary moult as well as 'classic' structure and p...
